Ed McGivern was an exhibition shooter who was
renowned for speed and accuracy. Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1874, McGivern once
fired five rounds from this single-action revolver at a target 50 feet away and
put all five bullets into three quarter-sized holes — all in under half a second. Nicknamed the “fastest
shot in the world,” he was a world-record holder and the originator of exhibition shooting. Ed McGivern's Colt Revolver can be seen at the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia.
